Earlier this year I was showing our products at Americasmart in Atlanta. Each time I am there I am thrilled by the business owners that I meet. They are truly the heart and soul of America. I am amazed at the different enterprises that people dream up. One of these is Breadwinner.
A lovely young woman, her husband, and his sister formed this company in 20o5.
They were perhaps the sweetest people I met during the show. As soon as I got back to Oregon, I ordered two of their breads to share with everyone here. We loved them. How could we not?
It was actually pretty hard to pick just two - not just because they all sound so good - but because their names are so clever. Check out these choices:
-Papa Don't Preach (Peach)
-Sweet Home Ala-Banana
-Frankly My Dear I Don't Give a Cranberry
If you are lucky enough to live in Atlanta, you can pop in and make your choices, in person. However, if you do not live anywhere near Atlanta, their website is a snap to use and you can be like us - and get these delicious breads shipped right to your door.

Conecuh Sausage!
One of the perks of making custom products is that we get to learn about all kinds of American companies.
Last year we started making spoon rests and utensil crocks for Conecuh Sausage.
Located in Evergreen, AL, this company has been making sausage since 1947! How about that for longetivity? You know they must be doing something right!
A couple of weeks ago, we were pretty excited when our UPS driver showed up with this box!
There were enough samples inside for all of us to take some home.
Here are some of the comments I heard from my happy staff:
-Canecuh Sausage tastes like sausage used to taste when I was growing up! (no water added)
-Smoked just right!
-Not too spicy – just enough to tickle the tongue
-Very high quality
-Great Tasting
If you are a fan of quality sausage or bacon, you might want to take a peek at their website and see how you can get some for yourself.

Portland
It seems like every time I pick up a magazine, there is an article about Portland (Oregon, of course!). This is really a great city to visit and we feel lucky that it is just 110 miles up the road. It is a very picturesque city with the Willamette River and its many bridges running right up through the middle of it.
Here are some of my favorite spots in Portland:
Real Mother Goose
This is SUCH an amazing place. They carry thousands of gorgeous pieces - all made by American artisans. They have been carrying our products for over 25 years.
Powell's Books
If you are a book lover, this is the kind of place where you could hang out all day. It's just the best!
Boulangerie St. Honore
I feel like I have been transported across the Atlanta to France when I step into this bakery.
This place is absolutely phenomenal. I can be a bit of a snob about good French pastries. These are the real deal! They are worth a detour!
Mother's
This place is eye candy and the food is so yummy! I can't believe it took so long for me to discover it.
